Review: Jem Apparel Maxi Dress

Jem Apparel, a long time sponsor, sent me this beautiful cobalt blue wide-strap maxi dress a few weeks ago.

This is my first maxi dress, and after living 6 months in a hot humid climate, I can tell you it won't be my last.

The bust is a wee bit small for the enlarged size of my nursing bust, but other than that, I seriously adore it. Due to the hot and sticky nature of my climate, I will probably be altering the neckline and sleeves so layering is not necessary when the summer heat is upon me.

Hair Inspiration: High Bun

As I mentioned, I am on the constant look out for new hair inspiration.

Today, let's talk about the bun. Is it the year of the bun? Maybe. All I know is that I wear my hair in a high bun several days a week. It's simple and makes me feel so much more put together than a low bun.

I have been using Liz's sock bun trick on a high bun all week, and it's the easiest thing. Make sure to check out her tutorial.

It also has the wonderful bonus of fantastic nursing access without having to wear a tank to cover cleavage that most cross front dresses put on display. Though I am planning to sew a snap in at the bust just to make sure I don't accidentally flash anyone. It fits true to size and will definitely be part of my regular Sunday lineup. It's a wee bit clingy, so you might want to wear it with a slip.

I could not for the life of me find a golden polka dot sweater (go figure, you'd think they would be everywhere, right?) I like the option I chose though, and if you really wanted to go for it, all it would take is a bottle of fabric paint and freezer paper. (Freezer paper stenciling directions). I don't think it would be a difficult project at all.

Spied: Old Navy Dresses for Spring

One thing I love about spring? Dresses in fun patterns. I am usually ogling the new arrivals of Anthro and J.Crew right about now, but I was pleasantly surprised to see these sweet dresses pop up at Old Navy.
